Matt Deggs is the Head Baseball Coach for the Sam Houston State Bearkats in Huntsville, TX. Married to his high school sweetheart, Kathy, they have 3 amazing children: Kyler, Klaire, and Khloe. Deggs recently completed his 5th season with the Bearkats. In 2017, Sam Houston State made a historic run to the NCAA Super Regionals, marking their second straight NCAA tournament appearance and posting back-to-back 40 win seasons for the first time in school history. During their run, the Bearkats won 18 straight conference games & finished the season ranked inside the Top 20 in all (5) Polls… both school & conference firsts.

Deggs, long since an underdog and overachiever in every way, has always considered it his mission to defy odds & set out and prove that nothing is impossible if you set your heart & mind to it. Faith + ACTION = All things are possible (Matthew 19:26) is what he lives by.

His message in a post-game press conference after their season-ending loss to Florida State in the 2017 NCAA Super Regionals went viral reaching more than 50 million people across the world. Despite losing 19-0, Deggs exemplified what he values more than the scoreboard, which is the character of his team and his relationship with Christ
